Frankly, Cheri and I never did have much of a weight problem in the past. Being young and active, we found it relatively easy to maintain our average built. However, that all changed with the birth of our son in 2008. As many first-time parents will attest to, the kilos just seem to start piling up easily. Cheri gained more than 10 kilos (from 55kg to 65kg) during her pregnancy while I played the part of a supportive husband and accompanied her and somehow gained a little over 3 kilos (from 65kg to 68kg) as well.
Since then, we've never been able to quite lose those kilos effectively. I was still well within the healthy range and didn't quite try hard to shed those kilos. However, Cheri was determined to regain her weight and lose her tummy.
Cheri tried many things - she tried signing up for slimming sessions at a professional slimming agency but the kilos lost were just water loss and they came back soon enough. In addition, she also found it tiresome to attend the scheduled appointments - she would much rather be home attending to our son!
She tried meal replacements and even signing up for a gym membership. But the meal replacements didn't taste great and didn't seem to work well enough. And she also found it hard to summon up the energy to go to the gym regularly.
